Holiday Schlock

I don't mean to sound like scrooge, or anything, but does it seem like marketers become more lame with every iteration of this holiday season. Today I was driving in my car when I heard an advertisement for Fricker's - a bar/grill type of place here in Dayton. They put the words of the ad to the song "Carol of the Bells." It's the same song that they used in Home Alone when Culkin was running from the church back to his house to prepare for the burglars (I think).

This is how it went:

"Frickin' chicken wings! Frickin' chicken wings! Twelve Ninety-Nine! Twelve Ninety Nine!"

Seriously: that's lame.

Boss: "Hey, ah... for that new commercial how 'bout you take our usual Ad and, um.. put it to some Christmas song or something."
Marketer: [after a piece of their soul dies] "Yeah, thats..... that's a great idea. I'll get right on that."
